Nolene Jackson

Nolene is a busy lady, being a Graphic Designer and owner of Sons of Serif along with Anne-Tonia Orr. As well as trail running, riding her dirt bike, camping, fitness and enjoying time spent with her husband, two sons and beagle, she has to fuel herself with lots of coffee!

I love a good challenge, pushing myself to take more risks and I have always enjoyed dancing, so when I got the opportunity to participate in Dancing for Life Education Trust EBOP I just had to say yes!

I'm nervous about putting myself out there but looking forward to learning new skills, building new friendships and an exciting night of entertainment and fun for such an awesome cause which supports our children's wellbeing.

Joseph Hayes

Joseph is well known for his event prowess as the Events and i-SITE Manager for the Opotiki District Council.

Having studied and traveled the country and a little of the world, the draw of the home has seen me settle in the EBOP. I was born and raised in Ōpotiki and now I am able to create events and experiences that bring our community together to celebrate what we have to offer in the Eastern Bay.

On the weekends, when I'm not knee-deep in events, I'm finding amazing places to eat on weekend roadies, hanging with awesome whānau and friends, or swinging a racquet at Whakatāne Tennis Club. Whānau was my reason for saying yes to supporting this important community event (thanks Cares Mitchell!) but also to challenge myself personally.

My love of travel will see me jetting off to Spain and South America next year but my first stop will need to be Brazil to show off my new Samba moves!

Nolene & Joseph will be dancing the Samba - Derived from Brazil, the modern Samba has become known as the party dance. In addition to distinct rhythms, samba has a signature bounce that stands it apart from the other Latin dances.
